Calling Card Tray - footed; silverplate over copper; probably English. These trays were kept on hall tables so visitors could leave their calling cards. Purchased in Virginia, 1998.

4" high. Carried upstairs to light the way to bed. A frugal housewife used every bit of candle , which made the push-up holder more economical than the fixed candle holder.

28" base. Mahogany- some solid and some veneer. 12 hanging pegs; Ogee base with straight legs, solid fleur de-lis at the top; S swirls; diamond shape opening at the top would have held mirror…

-33" long. Made from the crook of a branch as shown by all the gnarls on it.  It is very- delicate with a brass tip. It was probably made for a lady. Purchased in Jacksonville, Fla. Sept., 1998. 

38" long. Date carved in stick 6 inches from the top is 2A
1847. It was Purchased August, 1998 in Statesville, N. C.
