The artist is at left with her arms outstretched. Her composition includes slapstick humor. Her husband is shown falling from the swing as the servant who is watching the mishap pours a drink onto a lady's dress.

(Horsehair was taken from the tail and mane of horse. Tail hair was most desirable and described as "hard" in contrast to "soft" hair from mane, which was considered inferior.
